So today at the gym, I saw that the movie Machete is actually gonna be released soon. i always thought it was a hoax but apparently its real. how many of you will get a machete now?

There might be still a few of you stragglers left out there, most of us already have 1+ machetes...

Machete was one of the "previews" on the Grind House 2 movie DVD that Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez put out a few years back. I cracked up when I saw they based a new movie on it. Looks pretty good just going by the cast.

Yeah, been meaning to pick up a machete one of these days before prices go up.

I will not be getting a machete.

Maybe a little off topic, but why because the movie is coming out would I buy a machete?

The character 'Machete' was actually a small character from the movies 'Spy Kids', which was also done by Rodriquez, years before Grind House came out.

My knife buying is entirely dictated by what I see in movies.

If it's in a movie...its got to be good right?

Same with TV shows and video games.

I actually bought my first Spyderco (a Delica) in 1997 after seeing one in the first Anaconca movie. Prior to that, I don't think I'd ever seen a Spyderco. That's the only movie-influenced knife buy I've ever done, though.

I plan on seeing Machete, but I won't be influenced to buy one because of it. Though I've been thinking about buying a new machete for about a year now anyway.

Somehow I think there will always be good and cheap machetes available. :)
At least until Rambo XVII: Harvesting Sugarcane.

I thought it was a joke when I first saw it, as well. I already have "a few" ;) machetes, so I don't think the movie will influence any purchases. But it may be fun to try and spot the different manufacturers, models, etc.. I imagine there will be alot of Ontarios, Imacasas, Trams, and the like. I would like to see custom machetes, but they are a rare breed known mostly to folks like us. Maybe if there is a sequel, I'll submit to the props department the Fiddleback that I don't have yet, or the vintage 20" Collins I modified. :D

Hello, Mr. Grumpypants! :D

already got a cheap machete and a kershaw outcast; that's enough for my needs...and i never bought a knife just because i saw it in a movie...

This is the first time I have posted this pic not in reference to gundude73

i already have a machete, apparently by 5.56's picture i have quite a few i dont know about

At 7 to 15 dollars a pop, there's always room for another machete. Just got a Cold Steel Barong on sale for $8. I read an interview with the lead from Machete and that made me want to see the movie. Sounds like a pretty interesting guy, and he's been acting for a long time. Seems like a perfect lead role for him.

Off the top of my head, I have at least 16 different machetes right now, and always getting more. :D I don't think I need a movie release to influence me. :p
