Machine finish or hand smooth?

After handling the smooth finish Tiger Micarta on the NM series LE knives I have decided that I really prefer the look and feel of the machined Tiger micarta of my other LE knives.

Just thought I would ask the question to see which type of Micarta finish you all like.

It's been asked before, and I am sure I'll say it again, "machined."

Machined all the way, no matter what. I don't like hand smoothed handles and try to avoid them as much as I can.

It depends. I'm not a big fan of the hand-shaped NMFBM handles. Just not quite right. But I've done up a CGFBM with G10 that I hand-shaped myself - more rounded if that makes sense. Felt GREAT.

And I had a Custom Shop SFNO and ASH1 with handshaped. LOVE the hand-shaped ASH1 and the SFNO was nice, altho a bit too thick. VERY comfy tho. Like holding a Lay-Z-Boy.

The machined tiger looks better. But the hand-shaped feels better. To me, it depends on what the knife in question is and how many I'm getting. But generally, I think the machined LE might be the way to go, since it does look better. The hand-shaped mags are far more comfortable to me personally though.

This is a tough one. Without a doubt the hand shaped mags are more aesthetically pleasing, but the machined mags are more comfortable in the hand.

Just received two beautiful NMSFNOs: an LE and a Sage and Black Micarta machined. Preference? Machined -- in look and feel!:thumbup:

This is a tough one. Without a doubt the hand shaped mags are more aesthetically pleasing, but the machined mags are more comfortable in the hand.

For me, it's exactly the opposite
