Machine Stitching apposed to Hand Stitching?

Hello gentlemen... a quick question.
I am having a local leather craftsman make me a sheath. I was wondering if the hand stitch is better aesthetically than the machine stitch? You can get fairly thick thread for leather sewing machines now. I was told that he would only do the stitching by machine.
He said he didn't have the time for hand stitching.
Therefore the query. Thanks!

Calhoon, take advantage of your Gold membership and use the search function. This topic has been cussed and discussed over, and over, and over, and over, and over...................................................,

My personal opinion, having done both, is that if either is done by someone who knows what they are doing, (read professional or very experienced) there isn't 10 cents difference in the two. I personally prefer machine stitching for several reasons....but that's just me. Good luck.

Paul
