What do you use to protect the machine surfaces in your shop from rust and dampness?

Frequent used machines are continusly wiped down with oil. Seldom used tools are wiped down with a paste wax

Yes, I agree with Rick. My wood working machinery gets a coat or two of paste wax applied with steel wool, no buffing after I just leave it on.

Machine tools and instruments are oiled.

The woodworking stores sell an aerosol spray but I just use the basics oil and wax.

One more note...if you use a kerosene heater in the winter...big trouble. I was told that for every gallon of kero burned, 1 qt of acid moister is released in the air to condense on your cold machines. I fought it for about a month then sprung for elec heat...ouch! $$ to run.

The price we pay for our hobbies!

Spray everything with Boeshield, it was developed by the Boeing Aircraft company.
I use oil on the flat areas I work on all the time.
