After stripping most of my Becker knives I have noticed that what I thought were grind lines are actually more like machining marks. A friend showed me something that I had not noticed before. The plunge line, right where the edge starts and the ricasso ends, is curved, which is pretty cool. Now this may be a stupid question and I may have already answered it but, does anyone know how the knives are manufactured? Are they machined instead of ground into shape?
I can understand from a manufacturing point of view where some type of CNC equipment would have to be used. I can also see the benefits of machining over grinding and will not ever say one way is better than the other. I am just asking out of curiosity. Either way, I like my Beckers, they are easy to buy, fun to use and I have no problem modifying them the way I like. Please keep on going Mr. Becker!
