I see them labeled often as macvsog knives...always thought that was the right name for these blade shapes....One small point. MACV (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) was huge organization, and to my knowledge there was not a "MACV" type knife. These are SOG (Studies and Observation Group) type knives, the original was designed by my good friend, the late Conrad "Ben" Baker (RIP). John
got one of those, good knife.....Defiant 7 has a Vehement-designed Mk3-SOG mashup out now that is super nice. If you miraculously ever got a Vehement custom MACV-SOG, that's a thing of beauty as well.

I got the Elishewitz clip point version and then shortly after that the VK version dropped, but I was broke.I see them labeled often as macvsog knives...always thought that was the right name for these blade shapes....

MACV SOG is correct, just needed to add "SOG" to there title. Again not a big thing, and that Defiant 7 looks good!. JohnI see them labeled often as macvsog knives...always thought that was the right name for these blade shapes....

Made me curious . Found this to be interesting :One small point. MACV (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) was huge organization, and to my knowledge there was not a "MACV" type knife. I'm considering getting one. Only thing that stinks, imo, is the use of titanium for the guard and butt plate.
its not bad. I wouldn't call it super shred grippy by any means. very mild. the shape of the swelling of the handle along with the lighter texture seems good enough to me.I'm considering getting one. Only thing that stinks, imo, is the use of titanium for the guard and butt plate.
Even grade 5 Ti is soft (like aluminum) in comparison to stainless.
How gripping is the polymer handle using bare hands, wet?
I like sharp pointy diamond knurling grips
Have you experienced failure of Ti to perform in such applications ?Only thing that stinks
Have you experienced failure of Ti to perform in such applications ?
I've only had Ti on folder scales and other undemanding roles .
But, I see it being used now for knife and sword blades , and even axe / hatchet heads . IDK .![]()
My experience with 6AI4V is with aircraft landing gears. Soft as it scratches and marring easier than mild tempered steel.Have you experienced failure of Ti to perform in such applications ?

That's exactly right .Titanium comes in Many alloys. I have a titanium machete. I've have to get the edge how I like it, but now it's holding its own. I've chopped a Lot of stuff.
It's Not soft like aluminum.
D DiemakerThat's exactly right .
I made the mistake of saying Ti is no big deal to thread ; in a thread Diemaker was watching .
He set me right with , I might add , much patience .
PS : I attempted to do the cool guy link for Diemaker but failed .
anybody willing to tell me how that is done ?
Thank you !
