Posted while back about my Mad Dog Makulu Bowie that was lifted with my guns when armed robbers emptied my house, destroying the upper story to remove the gun safe ...... Mad Dog offered to build a replacement free of charge if I allow him to go creative ....... I expected much and even then, the bar was obviously way too low!!!

Weighing in at a trim 3/8ths of an inch thick, with a 10 inch blade and glowing temper line ...... the Makulu Zambezi is on it's way to Africa again. Top knife is Kevin's personal MD Bearcat.

Kevin is a true gent and I am humbled by his generosity :D but smiling like a dog with two tails right now.

Maddog is pretty awesome for doing that, but more so because those look wicked!

That is an awesome thing for him to do. I know those knives dont come cheaply, I am glad to hear of some good fortune coming your way.

I have a MD Destroyer that I use and it's a lot of knife. Kevin added some Sitka DNA to this mix and he confirms that it acts much faster and lighter than a 3/8 inch blade have any right too..

And this one will not live in my safe ... it will be a user!!

That's pretty nice of the guy for sure. Maybe you need some armed guards yourself the way it sounds. Sorry to hear about your loss though.

That, my friend, is an absolutely KILLER bowie. You do have some really fun toys.

The full-treatment GTL Bear Cat is almost as sexy. Almost  Hard point?

I am terribly sorry about how it came about, but this nearly makes up for the hassle.

I for one would love to see this with some dirt, scars, a couple dinks and maybe some blood on it. Next hunt, pics are required

Gents

The Makulu Zambezi touched down in Africa and what a blade. Although 3/8th thick, feels very nimble and fast in the hand despite weighing in at 0.700 kg vs the Destroyer at 0.740 kg. Balance is just spot on and feels like a much lighter and smaller blade.

She is an absolute gem so now first up my meds to reduce the stress of the first nick and I can use her. Nede to find something big to test on though ;-)

My eternal gratitude to Mad Dog for his friendship and generosity!!

Top knife is a Destroyer, middle is the Makulu Zambezi and bottom is an ATAK 2 (1995 vintage) for comparison.

Think one is the ATAK 2 ....
