Maybe I went "nucking futz?"

Sold the Chang Jiang. Broke even and that is fine. Here is the replacement.

Not so sure why I got it, but it should be a lot of fun. The dogs can ride inside, Anne on the buddy seat and we still have room to pick up groceries from Costco and other stuff from Home Depot.

Now I need to get it from Dorchester to Atlanta. Am checking with RoRo shipping (that's roll-on, Roll-off) as opposed to container shipping.

Anyone know about shipping something like this, please let me know.

Thanks

Bill, it is a monster but totally awesome. I know you can't wait for it to get here. What kind of gas mileage does it get?

I do respect you, but you are absolutely insane.

abso_______lutely insane.

I will forward this link to a friend who rides rigs and trains MSF folks for rigs. I'll give you his feed back.

You do know it is more like driving an off-balance three wheeler than a motorcycle, right? The whole business of turns and that?

Yah Kis,

I have had a sidecar rig before. It is a whole different experience!

But it has its moments. With a right hand sidecar and a gal in it, you can jerk the bars and balance her and the hack in the air. I had a lot of promises, but they all welched out when they got back on the ground!

Besides, if I ever want a job delivering pizzas or chinese food, I am set!

Ah well.

where's the rest of the helicopter? (wink)....I just adore the looks of the old machines, along with the simplicity of a machine actually made with maintenance in mind....have had numerous crazy thoughts through the years, including selling my Sportster to buy an old BMW or even (gaak) a Ural....you could probably also do economy funerals with that rig, too....congratulations....

Good idea! Any other suggestions?

I like the older stuff that does need -- and I think, enjoy -- a bit of tinkering. Guess I am just a techno-Luddite at heart.

No stainless steel khuks from HI. I like that. The old ways.....

This report just in:

If he lives in the UK and intends for this to be a backroad
tootler-cum-ongoing project,
it'll probably be okay. If he's anywhere else and having it shipped,
then yes, he's
insane...

I've heard of Reliant mills being put into bike frames over there before
- -
- it's kind of like the VW mills being put into /2 frames back when.
The Reliant motors are reputedly cheap, common, and stone-axe reliable.
If it makes much more power than the Dnepr mill(hard to believe it would
make less...), then the tran and rear end should be monitored for rapid
wear.

He should have fun.

Have fun, Bill.

Read the safety thread. (Edit: and figure out how to see traffic coming from the left.)

All in fun, guys and I am having fun. Can't wait to get my scooter! Will post some better pix.

Well, you could look into hiring yourself out to the diplomatic corps for limo service to third world visiting dignitaries or U.N. upper management, but I am afraid the demand for kickbacks from the latter would bankrupt you before you ever got started....I agree that machines and man get along best when man ministers to the machines with affection rather than serving the machines with hatred, and the newer ones demand only servitude as a design parameter....

Here's a look at his sidecar bike, armed with a lantaka.

And you thought motorcycles were loud before!

You're nucking futz.

I have a feeling that you're going to enjoy that contraption. :) Make sure to post pics when it arrives.
