I picked up a new domino a few weeks back that had a minor problem. Enclosed a letter regarding my concerns and sent it back. Tonight I received a brand new Domino via ups.

If you're reading this Spydeco, thanks for the fantastic CS! Issues happen to the best of them, it's how you handle them that sets the really great companies apart from the rest of the pack.

Just wanted to say thanks again.

Best-
Drew

I second this. I just sent in a Delica 4 for a minor issue and yesterday I received a brand new knife with a letter apologizing for the inconvenience. This was far above and beyond what I expected. This just reaffirms my loyalty to such a great company. Thank you Spyderco!

Their customer service has sucked for me! I have called and called for over 3 months to get some screws for a couple of my knives! Its ludicrous! Very unhappy about it.

I can't say they have "sucked" for me, but have not been as desirable as BM or Kai. I sent in a knife for blade play and it returned back about a month later still with blade play. The CS rep wasn't very friendly throughout the process. I felt like I was an inconvenience when I called to check on the status and subsequently called when the problem wasn't resolved. I love Spyderco knives and everything Sal does on these forums, but my one and only CS experience wasn't too desirable.

oh if I call Kershaw they answer the phone the first call. Spyderco I have to leave 30 messages before I even get a call back if I even do.
Kershaw sends me extras on top of what I ask for just because. Spyderco doesn't deliver at all on what they say.
I have maybe 10 times the amount of spydercos to kershaw/zt ....really pissed about it...the more I think about it. They said they would ship me my parts 2 weeks ago and nothing...calling again tomorrow EVEN THOUGH ITS POINTLESS!!!

I too have had recent difficulty with Spyderco service. I hear what you guys that have had a positive experience with them, but I am very frustrated.

I returned a domino knife recently as it would not flip and the blade was jammed over to the side. I was accused of disassembling the knife and putting it back together improperly. The lady on the phone said the screws were rounded and the pivot put in incorrectly. I purchased the knife new from a large knife store here in Canada. The only adjustment I did was loosening the pivot iin an attempt to push the blade over to center to see if the binding could be alleviated. I had to pay to have the knife returned to me. Along with the returned knife was a letter explaining that it was not a warranty issue and that the knife could not be put back into factory condition. I called again, and was guaranteed that I would have a an answer by the end of the day, and no one responded for several days only after i restated my concerns in an email.
Spyderco said the knife could be sent back in again, but likely would be returned as there is no defect. I think it is foolish for me to continue to spend money sending a knife back, only to have it returned unchanged. I have spent upwards of 250.00 so far for a flipper knife which will not open with the flipper.
I have many spyderco knifes, and am puzzled as to why after reading so many positive responses with service, I am accused of doing something i did not do, and spyderco not standing fully behind their product.

They are a rather small company and have a tons of knives out there. they aren't just sitting around waiting for a phone call or a knife to repair. If it's defective they fix it and return ship it for free. I have gotten screws and clips recently free of charge and didn't have to call more than once.

That isn't an excuse for poor CS. My knife was defective, they shipped it back to me with the same issue that it was sent in for; therefore they did not "fix it". I've never gotten free screws or clips (admittedly only asked on one occasion) and a quick search on these forums will provide similar responses in regards to Spyderco not sending free clips. I, personally, don't have any issue with them not sending free clips/screws, but rather my issue has been dealing with the rude "customer service" rep and not fixing my knife that was under warranty.

Buy from a reputable dealer and you won't need to deal with the factory warranty.

That's not an excuse I will accept. Maybe for a short period of time if you're understaffed...but I've been waiting for some parts for over 4 months! I have bought all different screws from many different knife places to try to replace them myself and I have had mostly positive success. However their Seki city knives use a hard to find screw that I still can't find as does the Southard. I just want my screws! They haven't even delivered on Colorado made knife screw replacements. At this point I'd be happy to pay if I got then in a week.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Spyderco knives....but their customer service is the absolute WORST I've ever had to deal with!

Try calling Comcast, you might just change your mind.

cable is different than a knife maker. You can get all the same channels with different providers. You can't get the same knife from a different manufacture. Cable will soon be extinct with the way things now stream online. Especially if they continue with their piss poor customer service.
And theres always Time Warner, Dish, Wow, AT&T, etc. ;)

Please excuse my confusion. Did your knife not originally come with all of the screws that it needed?

I've used Spyderco's customer service a couple of times now, and I have never found them anything less than excellent.

I couldn't be happier as a customer.
