I too have had recent difficulty with Spyderco service. I hear what you guys that have had a positive experience with them, but I am very frustrated.
I returned a domino knife recently as it would not flip and the blade was jammed over to the side. I was accused of disassembling the knife and putting it back together improperly. The lady on the phone said the screws were rounded and the pivot put in incorrectly. I purchased the knife new from a large knife store here in Canada. The only adjustment I did was loosening the pivot iin an attempt to push the blade over to center to see if the binding could be alleviated. I had to pay to have the knife returned to me. Along with the returned knife was a letter explaining that it was not a warranty issue and that the knife could not be put back into factory condition. I called again, and was guaranteed that I would have a an answer by the end of the day, and no one responded for several days only after i restated my concerns in an email.
Spyderco said the knife could be sent back in again, but likely would be returned as there is no defect. I think it is foolish for me to continue to spend money sending a knife back, only to have it returned unchanged. I have spent upwards of 250.00 so far for a flipper knife which will not open with the flipper.
I have many spyderco knifes, and am puzzled as to why after reading so many positive responses with service, I am accused of doing something i did not do, and spyderco not standing fully behind their product.
