This is my first Darrel Ralph knife. Darrel is great to deal with, he made sure I got exactly what I wanted. These pictures don't do it justice. It is a 4" stiletto blade in D2. The diamond-like coating was inspired from the Venturi he made that was posted here a while back. The pearl is for contrast, and has a lot more blue and opal highlights than the photos show.

What a beauty. Darrel's knives sure do have great fit and finish. I had a Madd Maxx a while back and it was an excellent knife. It wasn't as fancy as this one, but it was a great looking knife nonetheless.

On this one it is 8.6 blade length 3.95.
There is more dlc on my site and others on my site.
NICE Meteorite,pearl,Ivory etc...
I jsut updated the site!
I have these in 3, 4, 5.5, and 7 inch blades with or without power assist.

Man, I want one now! How does the DLC wear with use? Does it wear just like any other black coating?

Dylan,
DLC stands for diamond like coating. It is very tough. It is as strong and scratch resistant as the material is in applied to.

Awesome knife Darrel. I'll try to patiently wait.

As for the wear resistance, I have been playing with that knife for a few weeks now to break in the action (I didn't opt for robo-assist) and the lock bar still hasn't lost coating. It seems VERY durable, because the lock is very snug.
Darrel, thanks again for a great knife- I'm proud to own it.

That's a great looking knife Darrel! I really like the interplay of dark and light. Am I reading your post right, it sounds like you are making this with meteorite inlays? If so, I'd like to see a picture of one of those.

Here you go!
I do this in black lip, gold lip, white lip, walrus.
I also have this knife in a dual inlay .
The oval like this has a smaller oval in the center with gold dommed pins in the estuation plate oval in the center. The center oval is flush inlaid not on top....
These are cool with a power assist or manual.

Wow what a beauty..., congratulations Mr.BadExample..., and yeah...Darrel does some incredible stuff....good score, and thanks for all the neat pictures!

You may have to change that handle to Mr.GoodExample.. :)

Absolutely beautiful work. Feels amazing in the hand as well.

Darrel, what are the implications to dagger vs bowie blades, as far as edge geometry? How much thicker are the dagger's edges due to the lower grind?

Joe

Andrew, I am working on one now!

Pete, Thanks for the kind words!

Joe, YOU KNOW THE ANSWER.:D

Daggers are made for stabing and some cutting.
The higher the grind the thinner the edge so the cutting geometery is more for slicing.
