I had some time the other day so I took some scrap leather and copper rivets and constructed a new sheath for my Tin Chirra. Enjoy the pics :)

Well done!, Did you stack leather to make the welting or can you buy leather welting that thick?

I have got a ton of good ideas from here and other forms on the net, I also am a knifemaker so the tools and supplies are handy!

The leather was less than 1/4" thick, I cut out each piece and glued them in place before the rivet holes were drilled. That top piece that holds the chakra blades is a thin horse hide, the rivet gives it good tension.

Thank you. As a lefty I was thinking of trying to make the perfect Khukuri sheath for me and you nailed it. That is exactly what I need.
Now, all I need to do is the work.:D

This is quite possibly my first post outside of DotD threads in ~ 2 years, but I just had to comment.

Damn fine workmanship on that sheath!!!

I like! I'm really diggin' on the rustic look of that connecting ring, it gives the piece a unique flavor. Coolness ...

Well done! I especially like the rustic look of that ring.

:)

Thanks folks, the ring I forged out of 1/2" bar steel. That way the sheath bends when I sit, the last thing to do is replace the leg strap cords with 1" soft leather with some Velcro attached. That way I can adjust the tension easily and securely :)

That came out very nice, I like how you did the pouch for the kara and chakmak. Very rustic. Great job

I'm wondering if this exact sheath setup could be done with kydex? If so I might have a weekend project coming up...
