I had to call my power company this morning because I noticed that a pine tree on my place had grown up and was rubbing the power lines leading to my meter pole. The utility worker came out and told me that the tree trimming where the problem is was the property owner's responsibilty, not theirs. However, since he was already there, he volunteered to trim the tree back for me anyway.

When he was finished, I offered him his choice of a new Vantage Avid or one of the new charcoal Dymondwood 301's. He was all over the Vantage and decided that's the one he wanted, but he kept looking the 301 over and I could see he really liked it too. What the heck, I gave him both and he was one happy camper. The first thing he noticed about the Vantage was the "Made in USA" and said that he was thrilled with that, he didn't think any knives were made here anymore.

That was nice of you. I like to give Bucks away as gifts as well. I just gave a Tru-Blue filet knife to a buddy of mine on Saturday. He said he lost one just like it while fishing in the San Diego bay. He said he couldn't find another one like it. He got the gray folding filet knife and broke the blade stabbing a lobster. He sent it in to Buck and because it was discontinued they sent him one of the off shore filet knives, Which in my opinion don't hold a candle to the filet knives of years past.

He got informed and you got your tree trimmed. I hear that statement all the time. So, the UPS driver, FedEx and now the power company employees. People are going to start looking for an excuse to visit you. ;) DM

yes i also like to give away a buck now and then
warm fuzzys from new friends ...

Way to go Dave!!

Of course you may have just helped another poor soul down the path of addiction and financial embarassment but hey, there's worse ways of going broke.

Well, even if he never buys another Buck, (he may never need to ;)), at least now he's aware that for the most part, Bucks are still made right here in the good ol' USA. Could be he'll pass that info on to others.
