Made a new stable for my herd

I have been keeping my small collection of Hinderer knives in an old chisel box in my gun safe for the past few years. I felt like I was like parking Ferrari in a old out house, so I figured that it is time for an upgrade. I did a furniture project a few years ago and had a few pieces of black walnut and cherry left over just begging to be used for something. This is what I came up with. Just out of curiosity what are you guys hoarding your herd in? Lets see em folks!

Wow Jensen81! Sweet collection bro! And I must say that is quite the storage case you built! Beautiful work!!

Mine definitely isn't as classy as that :)

Used to do a little cabinetry back in the day, Nice job matching the grain...and nice compound trim on the corners, keep at it!

Thanks guys. I had fun building it. Its really easy to match the grain when you only have one board of each species! Haha. The real showcase is whats on the inside ;)

Sweet looking cabinet J81! That is a very respectable home for your Herd!

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice Jensen! I really like how you angled the corner trim, it compliments the corners of the top very well. Nice collection you have going there as well!

I have a box project I want to do for mine, but it's on some far back burner somewhere :) I JUST, as in within the hour, finished finally semi-organizing my garage. I've only been in this house since April..... Once winter sets in I'll get going on indoor projects.

Very classy Jensen. I'll need something eventually. Need to add a few more first.

Nice job, I enjoy wood working as well (and I had a good teacher) and prefer working with walnut and cherry over many species. My favorite skill is joinery, in particular dove tails / half blind dove tails followed by making framed panel doors.

Here is a shot of me when I was making my parents' kitchen cabinet doors (raised panel with a crown out of maple, I didn't use any jigs or templates for the crowns) and a picture of what a sample of the doors looked like before final assembly and finish. My favorite doors from their kitchen were the ones with leaded and stained glass rather than raised wood panels.

Very beautiful home for your Hinderers, nice contrast with different woods and masterfully built! I have a feeling that a cabinet will be your next project.

RDA very nice work on the kitchen cabinets, I'm sure they were very much appreciated.

Thank you for the kind words guys. RDA that is impressive! Do you do the leaded glass yourself also? I wanted to do finger lap joints at my corners but if I had made the smallest mistake I wouldn't have had enough to finish. I didn't have the guts to try it. I haven't done that type if joint since my furniture building class in college. My goal is to build all of the furniture in my house by the time I retire. I want to design and build my own kitchen as well but that is at least a few years off. :)

Thanks rubi. I just showed the pic to my buddy. He has a lazer engraver and said that he will engrave the hinderer logo into the recessed panel for me. I just wanted to run it by Rob O before I have it done.

^ That's how I roll buddy. The RHK crew has been very good to me, especially Rob O. The last thing I want to do is step on any toes or upset anyone. :)
