For Emerson Knives it means exactly what it says. Our knives and all the parts are 100% made in America by Americans. We are damn proud of that fact.
However Made in America does not mean the same for other knife companies. Now, I know about the laws and Federal Trade Regulations. I dont care what the law reads. If you have to look on a chart to see what percentage of your assembly is done in America to see if you can put Made in America on the label, then by my standards its not made in America. In regard to the offending knife companies, I know where their parts are made and I can even quote you the prices they are paying for handles and component parts, sometimes even entire knives.
How dare they wave the Red White and Blue in my face, boldly claiming MADE IN THE USA when in reality they are paying pennies for parts that are being used on knives selling for $150.00 and more. And this, in a time when American soldiers are giving their lives on foreign soil. Now, Im all about free trade and the market economy. However, there are the higher issues of ethics, morals, and just plain honesty. Im not here to tell anyone how to run their business. I would just like knife companies to come clean about where their knives are made. Maybe they should have, Some parts Made In America on their label.
Ive raised this issue with several of the magazines but no one will touch it. I fully understand why.
