made in AMERICA

Best Made is a NYC company that does high end finishing work on axes. They work primarily with Snow & Nealley axes. Each season they take a different model and do a high level finish on it. Few months ago they finished with the Hudson Bay Snow & Nealley pattern, and looks like they will be doing a round of the Council Tool 4# Dayton axe. If interested, you may want to wait until the Council Tool Velvicut version of this same axe comes out in in April. The new Council Tool one will be made of higher grade steel and come at about the same price.

I'd call them vastly overpriced.
It's mostly Council Tools axes.
Heck they'll even ask $50 to paint an handle and twice the price for an unfinished Wetterling. Would stay away from those people.

Wall hangers, many found on the wall over the fireplace in Manhattan lofts ;-))))
I heard that it was Canadians who owned the company.

It was a Canadian guy, but he left. I don't know who runs it now. I'm also not exactly sure to what degree they modify the axes.

that is attrocious! how do they sleep at night with those prices? that backpack costs more than the tent! and that make your axe kit? that stupid beanie costs 95! what is the world coming to?

end outburst

Yeah, welcome to NYC prices. :) That being said, these are custom versions of the axe. How much is the Bark River version of a Wetterlings? It's the same type of thing.

I really like the carry cases. For those who have someone else to carry their gear. ;-)))))
A couple of years ago they had very nicely matched cases and handles in pastels.
Ya gotta wonder.

Robin
