Hey all,
Im new to forum and just ordered my first ESEE knife. I decided to order from ESEE because it is made in the USA and is from my home town Gallant, AL! That is the listed mailing address on ESEE's website. It just floored me when I saw this and prompted me to buy one immediately. I had no idea that the Jeff Randall from ESEE was the same guy from my home town. I think he did some gun smithing on an AR for my dad when I was a kid. Anyway, are ESEE knives made in Gallant? Or, is that just where ESEE is based out of?

What is it with Idaho? Buck, Chris Reeve, and Rowen all are made in Idaho. Seems like a remote place for manufacturing, but I don't know. I have never been there.

I can't say too much....

Let's just say that the secret heat treat process that Rowen uses, you guessed it.......

Potatos.

It's a beautiful state, and a great place for hunting and fly fishing. Other than that, I have no idea how all 3 of them wound up in that state? I've wondered why also?!

I ordered the Izula for my first ESEE. I was down to the Fallkniven WM1 or the Izula and the warranty plus made in the U.S.A plus supporting a hometown guy sold me on it. Thanks for the info, guess the whole "ROWEN" in giant letters tattooed to the side of the bade wasn't clear enough for me;)!

Idaho made. You mean there are actually good knives made in other states?

Welcome Gallant! Drop by the farm some day and visit with us.

I think it has something to do with the laws concerning knives or something to do with land for manufacturing. Not sure about Rowen and Reeves, but I remember reading something about it in Blade Magazine a couple of years ago.

I don't really care, as long as the are made in the USA. I would love to see the name of any state on the blade. I hope Tennessee will be on one someday, but it would have to be a big knife, sometimes we have a hard time spelling Tennessee, and need a couple of tries.:foot::D

Knives made anywhere other than Idaho are just uncivilized. Next thing you know, people will be making pot metal knives in New York. Oh wait.... :D

Glad to see someone from Gallant making us look good! I always wanted to come watch that cowboy action shooting you were doing. Do you still do any of that?

There is one maker out in Or-e-gone that I kinda like, but I think Jeff's question is a valid one!
I'm still trying to figure out why I have to buy these esee knives from a dealer way down in Louisiana. Makes no sense to me, but I keep doing it anyway!
Nothing much for folks to see out here in Idaho. Be a lot prettier if all these damn mountains and rivers weren't in the way.

Maybe I need to move to Idaho and learn how to make knives. Or maybe move to Montana and raise dental floss. I can't decide.

You all would be suprised what all is made in Idaho besides Rowen knives.
Tactical solutions, CCI, Speer, GemTech suppressors, Mashed Cat. There is much more, but that's all that I can come up with right now. It's a beautiful state.
Cheers

It's because people will actually work in Idaho. Around here it's almost impossible to find people with any work ethics. We have a lot of lazy damn bums in the South.

As an Idahoan I'm happy that some great companies see a benefit in conducting business there. And yes there's nothing to see in Idaho........move along folks........nothing to see. Don't even bother stopping.:D
