Ok,first off,if there is a thread on this Topic
already,I do appoligize
...If so,I can close this one if
anyone needs,or wants me too...

Are there any Cold Steel Knives made in Taiwan?
If so,are they good quality recommended?...

I have a few very sturdy that I traded for as
real COLD STEEL Knives, and want to make sure
before I trade em off for things I like
...They are very well
made Knives, that look legit to me.....But I am no
expert....Are they things I can see to tell me they are
legit?....I've had copys before,but knew they were...And
would always state that...I would not want it done to me.
These were not purchased New by me,so I do not Know
If they are real, but look very REAL to me...And I don't
think the guy I traded would do it knowingly either...

I have pictures if needed? Thanks for any advice,
JD

You are raising two separate questions. Yes, Cold Steel does have a large number of knives
manufactured in Taiwan. They used to have US made models using Carbon V steel and Japanese
made models using stainless. When Camillus who made their US knives went bankrupt Cold Steel
shifted production to Taiwan. Their expensive San Mai III models have always been and still continue to be made in Seki Japan. As to quality of Taiwan made Cold Steel knives, some say the quality is good, while others say it's not as good as before. People have their own opinions on that.
As for counterfeits, you can go to ebay and see tons of them. Many are sold as Cold Steel but are models that do not exist. Some are close copies of the real models but with features that are not
offered on the real ones. Check out the counterfeit gallery on the Cold Steel site. Post a photo of
any models that you think "may" be suspect and there are people here who can help you out.
It's best to study up on the models you are interested in so you can spot fakes easily.
