I am not trying to create a us vs them topic, just curious to those who paruse here on BF how much the statement "Made in the USA" makes on your purchasing. I often look for products made in the US and made with US sourced products. I will not be offended if this is in the wrong section and is moved.

So what are your thoughts on this?

I would prefer to buy American even at some higher price but the quality has to be there !

When it comes to knives and flashlights, I will only purchase US made products (unless it is some cheapo unit for a specific purpose). Everything else, I pretty much buy whatever is most cost effective regardless of country of origin.

In todays day and age, it is nearly impossible to buy all made in America.

I prefer USA made items, and will pay a bit more for the label, but I don't limit myself to it. As others have said-it all depends on quality.

I will pay a substantial premium for American-made goods. But, they are getting hard to find.

I prefer "Made In The U.S.A." !!
What really burns me up is when I'm in the Base Exchange on Hurlburt AFB or Eglin AFB, and 99% of the crap you pick up has a made in china sticker on it!
You'd think the government would do more to support American companies!!!

I bought a brand new F-150 pickup...made in mexico.

Next was a brand new Dodge Ram, made in Canada.

Both times I was praised for buying American!

Yes here, too. I've found that the Internet makes it easier to locate US goods and services and dig for information. Sometimes I wind up buying vintage or used because some things made 50-60 years ago in this country are better than the new products--Foreign or domestic--works best for things that don't have scarce or obscure parts if you need a
repair.

I try to buy American whenever I can.

With knives, there are so many options. Buying only American knives helps me limit spending.

I have an illness.:D:D

spyderco and surefire, LOL, that is what I prefer.

Try to buy mostly US made knives, but can't resist the Occasional box of Moras or a few Condors.

I always try to buy US made stuff, but with things like clothing it is difficult. All my knives and tools are US made, and if you look you can find a lot of random stuff that will be made in US and imported with the same product. You just need to grab the US made one. I never used to look for US made products when I was younger, but as time goes on I almost feel guilty if I don't buy domestic if I have the option.

A physician sent me a very disturbing photo of a woman's breast. The woman had purchased and worn a bra made not in the US and acquired a flesh-eating disease from the tainted fabric of the bra. Her breast and underarm were severely impacted. The take-home message was to always wash clothing before wearing it, esp. if it is made outside the USA in one of the poorer nations.

Just about all my knives are US made. I wont chinese or other slave made knives. its not label you are paying for its the labor. To me chinese, taiwan ect. products are not collectable and I wont buy them as users on principle. Its a sad thing that so many companies have outsourced needed jobs for profit and the agenda of deskilling and dumbing down of Americans. I dont need to tell the powers that be or president that its destroying this country, its obvious, thats what ther trying to do. When corporations control government its called fascism. sounds like US.

I agree, I don't mind paying the higher prices, but the quality has to be there, I've been burned by that many times before, so now I do some research first...
