Can anyone give me a quick listing of factory knife makers that offer knives made 100% in the good ol' USA?

This might be a tough question. A lot of American companies, with production facilities here (as well as custom makers), use ATS-34 steel. Unless Hitachi allows that alloy to be smelted here under that name, the knife would then be 'Japanese.' I worked for Harley-Davidson during the 1970's; they used Nippon Seiki gauges (Japanese) and Bosch electronics (German, I believe.) With this global economy, lots of corporations 'out source' both materials and their R/D. Besides if a product, idea or material is foreign, and better, I think it spurs American craftsmen to raise the bar. However, I was glad when Tony Marfione went to good old yankee 154-CM...--OKG

I guess that's my point. I was just curious if any of the factory (production) makers are completely US made. Are you saying if they use a foreign steel like ATS-34 the knife has to be made overseas? Forgive my ignorance of manufacturing techniques, but can't they just import the steel and do all the manufacturing here? I'm not so picky that I consider a knife made of a foreign steel to be non-US made.

Well then, I believe Chris Reeve Knives fit the bill.
The Spyderco Military is made in the US.
REKAT knives.
Just to name a very small number, believe me the list goes on and on.

Microtech is quality stuff (all American)! Companies that use Japanese steel normally import the sheets or bars or get them from the US based supplier then use them in their factories inside the USA. Benchmade is among those that used Japanese steel, but produce their knives in the USA.

Recently, Benchmade has started using 154CM (American made ATS-34 more or less) steel in their newer knives.
