Made In USA Button on Buck website

I also agree, Bucks web site does tell you if its made in USA or not. When you click on a knife you like it will show an American flag.

I think Buck's site is pretty poor. It's slow, not always up to date, and those flags are pretty cryptic unless you know what they mean. The old site used to at least have a easy to find definition of what that flag actually meant. The categories are not very useful and overlap (hunting, tactical, outdoor, everyday) and the search works about as well as the bladeforums search did.

btw in the SMKW cat they have the flags on usa made bucks

The website is a major focus right now. the feedback is appreciated.

I truly think that Buck Knives are an American Icon, when you say and think Buck you think American made, quality, the best there is and ever will be. I don't understand the whole china thing, one should not have to wander if they are buying an American made or china made knife. I really liked the old days were you knew if you bought a Buck knife you got an American made Buck. To me Buck Knives are still #1, but in return I would not have or buy a foreign made Buck no matter how they look or hold out. And if Buck made all there knives over seas, then my knives would double in value. I would rather pay $100.00 for the cheapest USA knife then $20.00 for a china model.

when they changed the site i did not
like it a lot as i am not real computer savy
but i got used to it and it is ok with me now.. :)
jest takes a little time to learn it..
and that is what happens here a lot
learning..

Several suggestions for the web site:

1. Have a pdf copy of the new product catalog available for viewing and download.

2. Is there a Buck newsletter? I've signed up several times through the web site over the years and never receive them. If there is no newsletter, just remove the "sign up today" link.

3. I also find it really difficult to navigate using the "shop - why Buck - about your knife" menu across the top of the page. For instance to get to warranty info, you have to hold your cursor over "about your knife" then carefully down and right to "warranty info". If your cursor moves off line, the menu disappears! It usually takes me several try's to get where I want. Maybe I drink too much coffee? :o

I don't understand the whole china thing, .

I agree, I have to say in fairness that my wood handled Stockman is a great knife, but even so it would feel much better in my hand if it was USA-I have also recieved crap from friends when they see the china-of course they know nothing about knives and are giving me crap just to give me crap:jerkit:
Of course I dont deserve it:p:D

Since feedback was solicited... I was really disappointed when Buck changed the website. The new one looks nicer, but the old one had a lot more useful information that was easy to locate. What I liked best about the old site is that you could pull up a list of every current production model (and a lot that had been discontinued but were still available) with a thumbnail picture and country of origin, and then click for more info. The navigation on the new site is a lot more complicated and often doesn't take me where I want to go. For instance, if I am looking at the list of "Everyday" models and click one for more info, then click the "back" button on my browser, it does not go back to the "Everyday" list but to something completely different. I think it goes to the "Hunting" list, but I could be mistaken. Makes it very hard to compare two models. Also, I liked the bios of custom collaborators like Tom Mayo and Koji Hara on the old site. Have not been able to find these on the new site. For my money, Buck's best course of action would be to scrap the new site completely, update the old one with the new models, and put that back up. To me, Buck symbolizes function and reliability, and moving away from the flashy site with poor content back to the "plain" but useful site would be more in keeping with that image.

I just went on the site for the first time in awhile. It's ok but I agree that there's too much stuff, too many buttons and choices to make to get to what you want. I have to know that the 300 series is under Everyday to find them, if I'm not a Buck nut I may not figure it out. When I searched under
"300" in the search box I got the 301 and that was it! Also, I thought that search box was to find where to buy originally since that's what it says above it. As for the Made in USA, the flag comes up on ones that are, but if they're imported there's nothing-how is someone going to recognize the lack of a US flag as being an import unless they know prior. I think either "imported" or something needs to go in the space where the US flag is on others.

I'm with Hillbilly Bob, I could care less about how great they are and how nice they look, I'd rather not have the 38x series at all than have a Buck say China (or any other country for that matter) on it.
