I have a calypso jr lightweight and a delica FRN. They're both made in Japan, and I was curious: What popular spydercos are made in the US? Both knives are nice and came hair shaving sharp. Just like to see USA on the blade.

correct me if I'm wrong but the spydies with VG10 steel (wonderful, wonderful steel) are all made in Japan (Seki City, probably). (in fact most knives using VG10 steel are made in Japan (eg. Fallkniven, etc). The spydies using such steel would be Calypso, Delica, Endura to mention a few.

The spydies utilising CPM440V steel are all made in USA at the moment - Military, Starmate, Native to mention a few.

That's what I think, at least...

...And you can add the Chinook to your list of Spydercos made in the USA, as it is also made with CPM440V steel.

Gunting as well I bleieve since it does have cpm steel as well.

Is most of Spyderco's knives made in Japan? The steels that they use are mostly from Japan. Aus-6, Aus-8, Gin-1 VG-10 Ats-55. I would assume that they are also made in Japan.

Would this mean the Native will now be made in Japan since the switch from cpm steel to VG-10 would make it logical to simply swtich its production to Seki City?

Native is definately a good choice if you're looking for something similar to the delica with USA on it.
Make sure you check your Native though... some of them have weaker springs and may not retent the blade as well, while a lot of others have no problem.

Add the L'il Temp. to that list. Great knife, most
comfortable knife in my hand ever.

How it currently stands is the at 440V models are made in the USA, all else are in japan and china(yes, they use a china site too).

I beleive they plan on expanding the USA SFO to include more steel...

Spyderco also has a factory in Taipei, Taiwan too.
The Salsa's are made there.
