Made my first hook knife

Yesterday evening, I made this hook knife. Then I had to stay up way too late and whittle the spoon.

I haven't finish sanded the handle yet.

I cut the blade out of an old solid (without carbide teeth) table saw blade. I left the blade scaly and rustic looking. I've never made one before, so I just went for it. I heated it up, bent it around a ratchet, heated up again to bright orange and plunged it into oil. It's pretty hard but reasonably workable with a file, so I didn't temper it. I put a lot of pressure on it, and it flexes but wasn't breaking - SO hopefully my HT is adequate. It's hard to know what to do with it because I know nothing about the mystery steel.

The grind line wasn't so sloppy, but after I bent if, I had to put on edge on - WHAT A PAIN! It took forever.

Works like a charm though!

What do you think?
