Hello,

I made my first knife out of an old saw blade. It's a fixed blade knife and this is the result:

I like to know what you guys think and any tips are welcome.

Dock Maneer, prima krafkweerke! Now that is a very well polished mirror finish, and a very nice reflection of the sky to say the least. Good job on your first build, how long did it take you and how did you go about crafting it? Do tell us a tale old boy, go on let us in on it! I'll trade you a few stroopwafels and a good cup of hot Dutch coffee for your story. Lekker!

Dag!

Thanks for the comments.
Mirror polish isn't perfect, still some scratches. You just can't see them. I went up to 1200 grit wet sandpaper. Pretty good result I have to say.
Getting the polish took like 2 hours for one side.

This is the design

Started out with one of these saw blades.

Then cut it out and cleaned it with some sand paper.

Bevel was made with a jig. It's not perfect but it's okay for the first try :)

For the handle we used one of these pieces of oak wood. We later oiled this in with some oil to make it look darker.

Heat treating has been done on the edge with a 2 brick forge.
We could just do the edge because if we heated the rest of the blade the edge would cool down too quickly.

This is just a test piece. Steel was cooled in water, this gave the best effect.
