Reminds me of earlier knives of Bill Hampton.

Lots of Forum readers are high end collectors. may be the reason for silence.

i think its a great small knife. i like a knife that doesn't look like a CNC cut it out.

You have taken a bite of the the sweetest fruit on this earth the fruit of creation Now that you have tasted this fruit your appetite for it will be insatiable only by making more knives with bigger blades will you be able to enjoy this fruit you crave so much. nice sanding job it will make a nice neck knife. now make another.

What he meant to say is that just like the pusher man, only the first time's free. Now you're hooked, and you'll never come down! Spend a lot of time studying designs, reading about techniques, and deciding what works for you, and you'll never go wrong.

I'm working on my first as well, and it's a great feeling, as Dave said.
As for the knife, well, to be honest I think it's ugly. Given your posts, I'm assuming here that you'd prefer honesty to silence. And really, what your knife looks like is not the point- you need some good pats on the back to help you stick with it. That's worked wonders for me!
But hell man, it's your first knife! If you truly love doing this kind of work, there will be a second, then a third, then a fourth,...:) They will get better and better and better.

Keep at it ! It gets easier and more fun/addicting.

AS far as peening it,s NOT necessary. Drill your holes in the steel and handle material, use a file to notch the pin a few times where it will be inside the scales ( Unseen ) and epoxy the whole thing together.

thanks guys,
# 2 in progress - got the jones bad. retired and slightly diabled so I work slow.

PSK was not the inspiration, but another knife from another forum.

Ugly? yep. but then you should see me, then you would understand. Card carrying curmudgeon

Oh and thanks for the advive on the pins - new scales tonight!

keep up the good work, you will progress as you make them, knifemaking is something that you have to learn from your mistakes.

First knives are AWESOME no matter the shape or finish. Put that thing on a shelf and make sure its somewhere you walk by and see it everyday!!! You'll understand my motives in a few months. Good luck and keep up the good work, feel free to email me if you need some reference (parts, techniques, tools, I'm no Blackwood or Wilson, but I do know them)

I 've never made one with a file. How do you guys cut the file without wrecking everything you use to do it? Do you soften it up first or just go to it?

Thanks Frank.

Stax, Anneal it soft, I threw this on in a burn barrel and let it cool overnight.. then work it.
Heat treat and clean it up, then temper.

Presto, ugly knife!
