Made my first knife

Hello, I just joined- my little bro is a member on here and he is into making knives so I thought I'd give it a shot- My 9yr old son drew the design and I cut it out of a skil saw blade. (that was interesting)

I don't know how to put a proper edge on it. :confused: I guess I'll figure that out as I lurk around here. Anyway- here is a couple pics.

interesting, what did you cut the steel with? It looks like your thumb rests on the recess in the spine of the blade, is that by design? Looks pretty concealable too. I have an Edge Pro that I use to sharpen by knives. It's an idiot proof system and gets them razor sharp. Good luck.

Yeah, the thumb rest is by design, as it is pretty small.
At first I tried cutting with a dremmel with a diamond wheel thing but that wasnt working. So I roughed it out with a recip saw, then used a grinder to clean up a bit.

Anyway, my son thinks its about the coolest thing ever, so that's what counts.
Edge Pro huh? I'll check it out. Thx!

I am not from the US so I dont know how big that coin is. Roughly what are the dimensions? Like the style.
