Hello guys, I lurk here some but hardly ever post because I've always made fixed blades. I finally got off the fence and made a folder. It aint perfect but I learned a lot and hope they get better because I'll definitely be making more. I'll be ordering the tooling to do a proper nail knick soon.
It is 3 7/8" long closed, has a 3" blade, & is 6 7/8" open. The steel is Z-FiNit and is at HRC-59. It has a full flat grind and a 600X belt finish. It is linerless and the scales are O.D. green canvas Micarta. The pull is perfect (in my opinion) and the walk & talk are really nice. It is flush in all 3 positions and the blade is perfectly centered.
Comments, questions, & constructive criticism are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

I really like that square hole nail nick actually! Overall the knife is awesome especially for your first go. I like the serpentine pattern. My only constructive criticisms are that I think the blade could use a swedge, and the pivot pin is showing.

Great job!

I agree with Phil awesome first slip joint. I'd like to see more rounded ends on serpentine models an I think that curved hole nick will look better on the knife, rather than straight one. Overall a knife I drop into my pocket without hesitation.

Overall I like the knife, nice job  the only criticism I have is that it looks like a stockman with just the clip blade, and if you were gonna pick just one of the blades you shoulda went with the sheep's foot :D
But seriously nice job ! ( maybe add a bail or lanyard hole on the next one )

Darrin,
I think it turned out nice, it looks like You are headed in the right direction.

Darrin, this is really good news! I know you've been thinking about it for awhile and I'm glad to see you taking the plunge. I look forward to owning/using one of your pocket knives.

It is a clean and simple, yet modern looking. I really enjoy the square nail nick. Unique!!

 I have an addiction to green canvas micarta so it gets bonus points from me just for that. ;)

When you mark future knives, will you use a stamp or an etch?

Some may call it an opening hole but nice use of the 'Scagel' hole. I agree, instead of a blocky finish some rounded sides to the scagel pinch opening would be a nice transition.
Great looking blade, can't wait to see more to come.

Thanks philllll. The square slot actually allows for a really easy and quick pinch grip. I meant to add a swedge but got all excited about finishing it and forgot to grind it in. LOL I may yet go back and grind it in.

I hear ya buddy, once I get the basics down I will be doing lots of different things. I really wanna do lots of old patterns that you rarely see anymore.

That sure is purdy, and great work for a first! I just put together (not made from scratch) my first slippie. It isn't something to be taken lightly, that'sfor sure.

Hey Al, hows it goin buddy? You're right, I've been wanting to try them for quite a while. I finally decided that reading and researching was never gonna produce a knife. However, I think doing my homework did pay off. I'm sure I'll have to make several that will have to be given away before I make one that I feel is good enough to sell. Don't worry, you're pretty close to the top of the "give away" list.
My phone number is listed below so give me a call when you wanna kill some time. We need to catch up.
