I have made this pattern Nessmuk before but never kept one for me. I was working on some other blades and fit this one in between. I made it from 3/16 5160 instead of my usual 1/8in 1095. I wanted something just a tad thicker just to try it out. To make up for the weight difference, I drilled out the tang and gave it a tapered tang. Maybe my fourth knife ever with a tapered tang :) It feels very close to my thinner versions now. I used natural canvas micarta scales and contoured the grips. I didnt finish the scales very finely as I liked the roughed file finish. It gives a slightly rough texture to the scales which I prefer. I have been watching too many threads about Nessmuk knives and trios and just had to make one for me :D An added plus is with my Son in Scouts this may be my goto blade for campouts. Very handy and very non combat looking. Overall it is 8 1/2inches with a 4 1/8in blade(tip to handle).

Nope no leather fer me! It soaks up too much of that "Oregon sunshine" and makes blades all red/orange.
Oh how I understand that.

Very nice example of one of my favorite designs. I think you nailed it.

Nice blade and love the tapered tang! I got a 3/16" Nessie as well, but no taper. It's also a saber grind, so it's a bit too heavy, but cuts through chicken bones like crazy. Every blade has it's purpose I suppose.

very nice bill. as always well done. will definitely be a lot less scary for the parents/sheeple of the other scouts than your normal big beastly blades lol

Definitely! Even our knife friendly troop would question a Bush Sword on the pack :)

looks like a great slicer, I wish more fixed blades had tapered tangs. They just make more sense to me as how much strength are you really gaining on a fixed with the end being thick
