I had never even heard of these things until I saw a thread about them in the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades forum a long time ago, at which point I thought, "nah...I'm good. Don't need one of those".

Then I got a Victorinox Excelsior, which came with a nice plastic slip case. After carrying it for a little while I thought, "Huh, this little case seems to be preserving the shine on the plastic scales...not bad!"

Then I noticed that my Vic Electrician with custom Kelly Green alox from Swiss Bianco was starting to show wear from rubbing against the keys in the same pocket. A little bit of wear is fine, but I wanted to preserve the knife's beautiful green finish. So I made myself a leather slip case to fit all of my Electricians and Pioneers:

I was already carrying these knives with a lanyard for pocket retrieval, so the slip case fitted into the carry system perfectly.

I've definitely been converted to a slip case user.

Im curious how is it joined? I dont see stitching....I had a rainy day clean up yedterday and found 2 saddleback phone cases ...redundant because the new phones are too big ...I think they could be repurposed into knife slips...cheers.
I have a repurposed phone case knife slip somewhere around here. Nice leather and thin, it works very well.

Yep! Me too. Looks very nice.

It's just glued together with "Shoe Goo" glue. I was going to stitch it as well, but I'm not very good at stitching and the glue seems to be holding up really well by itself. I sealed the edges with Fiebing's "Edge Kote" to make it look a bit more finished.
