I figured I needed a new knife, so little by little I have been working on this one. It`s 8 1/2" overall, with a 4 1/4" blade, 1 1/4" tall, and 3/16" thick. The handles are ipe, that someone sent me a long time ago, with six stainless pins.

I like it. Give it a good workout at the "Skills Gathering".

Real nice looking knife John! I really like the patern in the handle, that is pretty wood! I have never heard of that wood before. Where does it come from, if you know? That will give you something to play with at the Skills Gathering. At least three of us will have a knife there now. Later!

What is the Skills Gathering?

A few of us are getting together to show off our outdoor skills! Do you have any that you want to share? And are you close enough to come out?

Hi Stomper -

Sweet! That has a similarity to the "first JK" that is on the wall of the lounge/workshop. :D

I just took about 30 shots of the Knatchet, and none of them are on the SD card!

Oh well - I have to get the lights back out later and take them all over again.

best regards -

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice the similarity! This one is a copy of the original JK Handmade Knife, but with a full height grind! Right down to not even having a K stamped on it.

No name yet, but I`m thinking of doing a limited, numbered run of them early next year. No puffing up from the ipe.

Hi Stomper -

Put me down for one if you do!

Koooool!

Hi frontiertom -

The wood comes from Brazil - I had to look it up too.....

Yeah mqqn, I read up on this stuff last night on the Internet and looks like you have to be very careful with it. Can cause a lot of allergy problems like fixer said. Really I guess you should be waring a mask no matter what you are working with but, a lot of times I don't. I do when I am working with anything exotic though. You just don't ever know what you are dealing with when you are working with something from a foreign land. You could run into an ebola virus or something, in which, I guess a mask wouldn't help you much anyway! Just be careful with those woods! The handle on John's knife sure does look nice though! Thanks.

Very nice! Actually, looks alot like one of similar pattern I drew for myself. Is it what's called in America a "scalping knife"?

Again, this is a very elegant knife, "function-over-looks" style. John, can you post a photo taken from the top?
