So yesterday I was bumbling around in the kitchen trying to figure out what to make for dinner I had some leftover cube steak and country style ribs from a bbq Sat. and some verious starches and then an idea struck me MAKE A STEW! So I went thru the fridge and pantry then got out the old slow cooker (crock pot) and this is what I threw in there:

2 cups diced cube steak
4 cups diced contry style pork ribs
1 large sweet potato diced
5 med white potatos diced
1 bag frozen green beans
1 bag baby carrots
1 can of peas
2 cans of Chunky Soup - Pot Roast
5 beef bullion cubes
4 cans of water (using chunky soup cans)
salt
pepper
garlic powder
onion powder
old bay seasoning

Let it cook overnight then this morning I thickened it with a 1/3 cup of flour with enough water in it to make it the consistency of syrup.

I put this in here because I made this stew basically for free, you could store it in a variety of containers to take with you on the trail and then it wouldn't take much of a fire to reheat it for a hearty meal.

Damn you. You've made me feel hungry again.

I love these 1 pot dishes. Really comforting in the winter.

I was inspired, and am currently quick-soaking some beans, to make a delish stew later today. Can't beat a stew!

What?, ...no photos of knives in action,

...or even a mention of the knives used.

I too love one pot meals.

Crockpots are great,

...I often use a dutch oven in my oven for slow cooking. :D

Lol well the knife was just a kitchen knife I didn't even think to use my custom EDC for the dicing with some action photos ;) next time!

This morning I made a bagel.

3tbsp cream cheese
1 sprinkle salt

I just ate.. and I am hungry again :o

Oh well, guess I have to get some desert than :D

Growing up we always had what dad called "left-over soup" when my friends came to dinner they just thought it was soup left over from a day or two before...it was soup made out of whatever left-over meat and vegetables we had over a few days time. Now I still do that to this day.

plus one, I was thinking the same thing with all those cubes and dices....

.

Like I said it was cheap and you could easily take it out to the woods and reheat it. Better than rice a roni or some freeze dried stuff ;)

Sorry if my posting it here offended you.

Makes the house smell good. When I lived in the boonies , snowed in and heated with wood , I use to do similar dishes on top of a wood stove.
