Made the pilgrimage - highly recommend it.

Spent some time in CO this past week and had to stop by Golden to visit the Spyderco Outlet store. It was absolutely overwhelming how awesome it is to see all those Spydies next to each other.

I discovered a lot in person about knives that I had only seen online. The Southard is a much smaller knife in person than I originally thought (lots of blade in a very small handle - with just 1/4" difference between the Southard's blade length and the ZT0561, I completely forgot to check out the handle-size difference and just imagined it much larger than it is).

The Gayle Bradley Air feels like absolutely nothing in the hand (it's literally like holding a full-ti liner-lock/glass-fiber knife that's as light as a FRN Dragonfly2). The Enuff is perfect sized for minimalist fixed-blade and as much as I thought I'd hate the Memory, I just absolutely love it.

I told myself before I went in there, that I was going to try and limit my purchases, but alas, I went way over budget but the family and I left with plenty of goodies. Got a free T-shirt, some shirt-pins (look like CF Balances and one pin was a Dialex Junior I believe). The lady working at the counter was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly.

Wife and daughter needed some beads (I'll admit, I got some for me too) and my daughter wanted one of the Girl's T-shirts. My oldest son got a US-made Bali-Yo and my youngest ended up with a G10 Byrd Robin.

It's a very cool experience and I definitely recommend it if you happen to be anywhere near Golden.

Good to know you and the family enjoyed the trip and the factory. Some folks have gone on and gotten a tour, others reported it was all off limits.

Didn't even take pics of the inside (or ask for a tour as we were in a hurry to visit family). I will say this - don't go in planning on spending just a little bit of money - it won't happen :D I was honestly mesmerized for a bit just trying to figure out which choices to make.

Here's my street cred:

I think this trip might have cost me even more. I'm seriously considering an Air and a Southard now that I got to handle them in person.

Crap - there goes the budget I had waiting on the Domino...

Well...what did you get!? :)

I really want an Air too, but I'll never get to see one in person before purchasing.

I picked up the last two Para-2s they had in-stock, 2 round beads, 2 square beads, 2 T-shirts, 2 BaliYos, a Pink USB Thumbdrive, and a Byrd Robin (G10).

The Air and Southard are now on the list for sure.

I know what you mean, EZ. I work about 5 minutes away from the SFO and have twice as many knives than if I didn't. :( :)

Man that sounds great, truly a pilgrimage! That's on my bucket list for sure. I've never been to Colorado, but now have a reason to make the trip. Gotta start saving funds.

Sounds like you had a great visit.

I'd love to make it out.
Does Spyderco ever host any events(swap meets/collector get together) at that location?

When I went in November I met Mrs Glesser and she gave me and my wife the full tour if the whole factory. I saw prototypes, machining, grinding, etc. the whole lot! Boy can she talk!
Definitely worth the experience. :)

Air is a great knife! Get one lol.

I've seen some of your posts about yours and I've honestly got a ton of little folders near that size, but oh man - that thing was so intriguingly light-weight and yet solid (and honestly, prettier in person than any of the pics I've seen online).

Right now, I'm really thinking more about the Southard, but my biggest issue is that my list was completely empty until I visited the Outlet store :)
