they both look like they'd be handy little utility knives. Top one looks like a better concealed necker since it seems to show shades of Fred Perrins influence, bottom one just plain looks pretty darn versatile.

More than anything on them I LOVE the cordwrap! man I'd love to learn how to cord wrap that well!

How did ya' heat treat 'em?

Overall, not bad lookin'!

Thanks for the kind word Runs. They were already heat treaded (hard as he!!) so I had to grind them slow and cool in water so as not to lose the temper. Heres a pic of the sheaths.Ones a IWB and the other has a pocket clip.:)

The one with the rounded blade looks alot like a bark peeling knife I made when I was a youngster about 100 years ago, (but yours looks better)...Maybe you should send it to me as a gift.:D.

Those are awesome! Small fixed blades like that can be real handy. I am curious what handplane the blade came from? I am doing a bit of handtool woodwork these days so I would just like to know!

Those blades look very Japanese to me as well. Actually, the first thing that came to mind was Perrin's street scalpels. But the Japanese have long used small knives called kogatana (well, kiridashi kogatana for this size IIRC). Way to go man!

Thanks for all the kind words!!:) I picked the plan blades up at Home Depot for about $4.00 I just took a dremel with a cutting wheel and split it into half. I also picked up a smaller planer blade to make two smaller models. They should be small enuff to fit in a wallet w/ the lanyard just sticking up from the pocket.
I tried to drill a hole for the lanyard but even with a "Ti" drill bit at slow speed it just skated on it.They must have a high Rc??I'll post some pics of the smaller ones when I get them done.:D Thanks Again for the feed back!
Todd;)

Todd - that little tanto is really cool, and I don't ordinarily like tantos. Very nice stuff, you're actually inspiring me here.

Interested in your cord wrap ... I'm assuming you didn't drill any holes in the handles. (?) Could you provide more details, maybe some close up shots? Ditto the sheaths.

Thanks!

Dave, I'm glad you like'm:) Yeah I couldn't get a hole drilled in them so I just put a thin coat of 2 ton epoxy on each side and then ran the lanyard strings the full length of the handles to give the sides a little thickness, then I wraped the para cord over the epoxy and lanyard string and tucked the ends under. So basicly they are glued down and if I every need to replace the cord a little boiling water will loosen the epoxy. As for the sheaths I took some shoe grade
leather and folded it over and epoxyed the ends and sanded to shape.I used a simple snap replacement kit I picked up at Wal Mart made for fixing blue jeans to attach the clip and IWB loop. They have a male and female so you just hammer them together.(you won't pull them apart!!)I was gonna stich them up put I like the seamless look and ease of the epoxy. Its all pretty easy to do if you have the sanders for the edge/shaping/grinding part and a dremel to cut the plan blades down.Mine is a2x30 w/ 6" disc I picked up at Sears for like $100:D. I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow when the suns out. Also if anybody wants some step by step pics of cutting the blades and stuff feel free to email me and I'll try to help.

You definitely seem to approach things much the same way I do: improvise, innovate, adapt and adopt what's available. This has always been the most enjoyable aspect of any hobby for me ... it's the "doin'" rather than the "havin'" that I like.

'bout time to stop by Home Depot, I think. :)

Thx again!
