Just thought I would share my idea for a striker for the mag fire starter that wont dull your knife when making shavings and make one of the best strikers I have used. Take a hacksaw blade and make it 2 inches, it already has the hole for the key chain. There you have it and it will always be with your mag block. Here is a pic.

It's a great idea. I do that with all my strikers to save my knife edges, and those teeth can strip off the mag faster and throw great sparks.

Hey Guys....

Don't use the teeth to strike the edge..

All you need to do is sharpen the back side a little,,and it's good to go..
I make strikers from hack saw blades all the time,,and grind off the teeth...

If you use the teeth to strike you flint, you'll gouge the living $hit out of it..

What do you grind the teeth off with?

I will probably just "sharpen" the back of the hacksaw blade and leave the teeth.

The metal "blades" that ship with the MagFire firestarters don't work all that well. I have wondered if I should try to "sharpen" them, maybe even just a 90 degrees.

Hey Kenk...

I grind them off with an ordinary stone grinder,,or my belt grinder..

I grind them off so the teeth don't hurt my fingers...
