I don't really know where to turn for this one, but I know that some of you guys probably go camping and the like..
I have a 5-Cell maglite..and I got a little(about the size of a D-battery) problem with it...

I hadn't been camping in a while because i was too busy with school and work, but i just went these past wo weekends...on this last trip my batteries died, so I tried to replace them (tried being the key word here)...

The 5th battery(the one closest to the top where the switch is) has leaked and the battery acid won't let it come out...and I can't reach it....anyone ever have this problem, or know how I can get the battery out???

Thanks guys.

I think I'd try putting some WD-40 or other penetrating oil like Kano Kroil down the tube, let it soak in, then run really hot water over the outside of the tube where the battery is stuck in hopes of getting the tube to expand some. Perhaps a stick with a rubber tip (like a cane) could be used to attempt to turn the battery and free it from the corrosion's grip. The tube could then be gently tapped against a hard rubber surface (like a doormat) to dislodge the battery. Just my thoughts, good luck.

you have probably already tried this but...

as the batttery is heavy try bholding the fladligth and banging the open end with a 2 x 4 the momentum transfer should move the battery along to the open end.

Possibly one of the chemists in the group can give you an idea of what you migth like to pour inside to dissolve the "glue"

Try white vinigar cover battery let sit till you see corrosion coming off,tap battery out. RINSE WITH WATER [vinigar is mild acid]spray with WD-40 every nook and cranny Do the wd-40 a few time's .This has worked for me to save battery powered equipment.P.S. DO NOT USE WD-40 ON PLASTIC'S IT WILL BREAK IT DOWN.

The best thing is to send it to the battery manufacturer with the defective battery still in it. They will send you a new replacement maglite or a check for the replacement value of a new one. I have done this and I had a check from them in about 2 weeks time.
Even if you were to get the battery out yourself the flashlights never seem to work as reliably afterward with corrosion always returning.
