Mag Solitaire LED ?

Did not know these were made until reading the Arc thread.
We all know how nasty the yellow light is that spews forth from Maglites and yet most of us own 1 or 4.
So my question is , how good is the LED replacement for the Solitiare ?
I was so-so pleased with the LED drop in for the 2AA Mag and not the tiniest bit pleased with the horrid LED dropin for the 3 D cell Mag.

I was not aware of a LED drop in. I have been using titanium energisers and they last well enough for hanging it around my neck for the common power cuts in Nigeria and other interesting African countries. It is used to guide me to my more serious torches. Without it I would have battled to find the toilet paper or soap, as the situation demanded in the bathroom.

I've had the ArcMania SMJLED upgrade in a couple of Soltaires for about 6 months and am very satisfied. It turned them from dust collectors to daily users.

Big improvement in brightness, color and runtime.

On the downside, the head no longer screws down fully due to the increased thickness of the drop-in. Still quite useable though.

There are brighter, more expensive drop-ins on the market as well as complete Cree based lights that are affordable, but the price/performance of the ArcMania unit works for me.

You can make the head screw down all the way by carefully removing the reflector and sanding off the useless nub as the bottom.
