Magellan Sendmap Direct Route CD question

Can you load the CD info on to the SD memory card, and then not need to bother with the CD again. Or is their too much info on the CD for that. I'm a newby, and waiting for my Meridian color to arrive.
Does any one have the CD one they can part with.
Any suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.
