Wasn't there a company that sold extensions for the backs of maglights? They were either just weighted ends or actual hollow extensions that would hold a couple more batteries? I don't even remember, it's been that many years.

I've searched through several sites and the archives here and didn't see anything, so it's not for lack of trying. We were camping this past weekend and someone swore that they saw a security guard at a concert using a 4 cell AA mini maglite. Wouldn't double the voltage blow out the regular bulb anyway?

Thanx

4 batteries would not blow out the bulb if they were wired together properly. Standard Minimags have 2 batteries in series. A 4 battery minimag should have a pair of batteries in series put in parrallel with a second pair of batteries in series (I hope that made sense). This would give you the same light output but with double the life.

Of course I have never seen such a system so as far as I know the above description is just an interesting exercise in electrical theory.

I have seen the strobes that fit on the back of D cell mags, I think I saw them at Tanners, but that is the only extension I know of. I know at one time someone made a 4 AA style mag and a 6 AA style mag, but they weren't ture mags.

Ron, it might have been the 3AA from Brinkmann. But I heard of extentions also. Never seen one though.

Brock, here is the homepage for the strobe Badge Light

There was a solid extension that I haven't seen advertised in several years. I think I had seen it in either U.S. Cavalry or Brigade Quartermasters.

Yep; thats where I got mine; I can't remember which one. The extension came with a new bulb and reflector (big surprise; a standard bulb seems to burn out in maybe a minute). I found the instruction sheet that came with it: TacStar Industries, Inc
P.O. Box 70
Cottonwood,AZ

Don't know if the address is any good.
Good Luck,

Well, you posted it just fine. Thanks for the reference. I've got their Grip'n'Clip on my 3D cell Maglite; works great.
