I have a 4 D cell maglite and I use rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries. They run at a slightly lower voltage than throw away batteries. I would like to convert it over to the new optional LED lamp. They sell these for 3 D cell maglites. Since I am only getting a total of 5 volts from 4 rechargeables instead of 6 V for throw away batteries, I am wondering if I could use the 3 D cell kit
Since the 3D cell kit conversion is rated for 4.5 Volts and my 4 cell rechargeable only puts me over by 0.5 volts I am wondering if this would work, or would the LED lamps burn out prematurely?
