Hey guys, I love Maglites and well, its so NOT bright, I have some high power lights that knock them out of the water but......Maglites have a certain appeal to me, my Dad has had one forever and very reliable so I want one for myself. Is the Malkoff XM-L led drop in as good as they say? I've only heard positive things about it. Also are the new incandescent Maglites for sale compatible with it? Or only aged old Maglites?

:)

Hhmmm, I've been carrying around a Mag for 8 years and never heard of that kit, its got my attention now. Are you refering to the MiniMags or the larger Mags (C and D, 2 cell-6 cell) lights?

The D cells. Anyways, I couldn't wait any longer and went ahead to Home Depot and brought a 4D and ordered the drop-in. When I get it I'll do a quick review.

Not sure but I believe the dropin is for newer models only. Or may be the other way around. I know the website talks about it fitting a certain serial number of lights. May want to look to be sure.

I have a Maglight 2D LED that is an excellent light... they are usually a door buster for Lowes on the tax free days on hurricane supplies for around $12... I have a Malkoff module for my 6P, and it has a massive brass heat sink if you need continuous operation... if you need a good high intensity light a 320 or 840 lumen SolarForce module for a 6P or G2 is around $12... a L2N body is around $12... all you need is a couple of cr123s

This is interesting.
I have an old "LL Bean" model 3-D cell mag that I've had for about 15 years.
I keep it in my truck but it doesn't get much use anymore since my pocket sized cree lights have quite a bit more power.
I'd be happy if I could get it to be a bit brighter.

UPDATEEEEEEEEEEEEE: Just got the drop in and installed in, I'll do a quick comparison with a standard Maglite LED once I can see again.
