Recently got a Maglite 4D and a Malkoff XM-L drop-in module for it.
Standard Maglite LED 3D
131 Lumens
Runtime: 4hrs on Alkalines
364m ANSI throw distance.
Around $20
Malkoff Maglite XML
700 lumens on nimh, less on alkaline.
Runtime: 4.5hrs on 10,000mah nimh at max output, way longer when it drops down.
365m+ throw distance (With a LOT more light)
Around $100 total, excluding batteries and charger needed for maximum output.
Can only be used on 4-6 cell Maglites.
XML is neutral tinted, it's not actually that yellow, its pretty white, stupid camera
Comparisons

Standard Maglite, Rebel LED

Malkoff XML

Overall light size

Overall impressions of spending a total of $150+ for one Maglite
WORTH IT! Malkoff makes the regular Maglite run and hide in the dumpster. If I get time, I will do a outdoor comparison because that's when the Malkoff smokes the standard Maglite. Indoors the XM-L doesn't really make a difference. The Malkoff is regulated and heat sinked better than the regular one. Do I really need a portable searchlight? NO, but I like to have one just in-case of roadside emergencies.
