From the chatter, sounds like those CruCarta PM2's may finally be comin down the pike sooner than later. & ppl are clearly interested in assessing these on a bunch of different axes, given the fundamental change to the PM2 structure and the possibilities it creates. Thing is, seems like Cru/Z-Wear may stand to suffer the most from widespread adoption of MC, esp. given results like Cedric and Ada's that mean it may have significantly superior edge retention, averaged out, in addition to incontrovertably superior stainlessness by comparison.
It's unclear whether MC Knife's gonna have the distribution to take over the charts anytime soon, so it may be a while before Cru-Wear's eclipse - if it has one. That said, if we start to see MC in a lot of the places The CW currently runs, a PM2 MagnaCarta is an obvious place to start - assuming the R&D they sunk into the Crucarta setup means SpiderCompany'll be looking to use it for future models.
So, 2 questions:
1. is anyone in a position to speak more definitively about CW being likeliest to take a hit? Or is S30V the likeliest, for obvious reasons?
2. IF the former is true: Cru-wear's great virtue is obv high toughness relative to high qualities in respective categories, and so it's tended to have woodsier, less ~tactical~ [thank f*king god] applications and aesthetics. I mean, it even turned a knife called the *paramilitary* into a jaunty lil' forest sprite. And it's something MC's designer avowedly had in mind when making that steel. Obv it'll be used everywhere for everything like any new hype steel, but do folks see MC shaking out in a similar way aesthetically, overall? Beyond a MagnaCarta pm2, I'd love to see that combo in other forms, or even in something like uhhhh, idk, a North Fork or Enzo Birk in MC. Any other ideas along those lines?
