Magnacut v maximent

Magnacut is highly stainless, Maxamet is a tool steel (i.e. not stainless). Magnacut was designed to have a good balance of toughness and edge retention, Maxamet was designed for extreme wear resistence even at high temperature. Both are steel, and that's about as far as the similarity goes.

Very different steels! Maxamet is a very high hardness and carbide volume tool steel. MagnaCut is a well balanced stainless steel with decent wear resistance that also has good toughness and stain resistance.

Both good, but very different.

There are not a lot of steels that really compare directly with Maxamet, it is a unique material.

As others have already stated Maxamet and Magnacut are very different steels. Maxamet is not even close to stainless. I live in Washington State near saltwater and need to keep a light coat of oil on my Manix2 in Maxamet. It also takes quite some time to sharpen.

On the other hand, Magnacut is fairly corrosion resistant and is a breeze to sharpen. Literally takes a fraction of the time as it takes for Maxamet. But Magnacut has no where near the edge retention as Maxamet. Thus the ease of sharpening.

Just my experience with the two steels.
