I recently purchase a forged, differentially tempored fixed blade knife and noticed it is slightly magnetic. I was wondering if this is normal as a result of the forging process? Is there anything bad about this and is there a way to "demagnetize" a blade or piece of steel? The blade is 1084 Carbon Steel. I was Tuf Clothing the blade and set it down and noticed a loose staple was hanging on to the blade. I can't think of any reason this would matter, I am just curious...Ed.
