Magnets: Use In Glass Display

Here are a few photos of super magnets (strong and small) being used to secure contents of a tempered glass display case. You can count cutlery from the sides and the ceilings in order to use the display's interior more robustly. Magnets allow further stuffing into an already full display. As a word of caution use care bringing the target into proximity to the magnet so you don't smack the glass, attract metal or shatter the magnet.

Good idea, Oregon.

Thank you. So far so good. No accidents happened during gravity being overcome with magnetism. I do need more magnets, however.

That looks great! hopefully the little ones don't pull the magnets off:p

LOL. Kids and cutlery are a cautious mix aren't they. But the magnets, the really powerful ones, are something kids should have nothing to do with because they can be dangerous due to choking hazard, they can shatter (sending off sharp bits) if they come together quickly and they can tear flesh. I was introduced to hyper magnets at Blade West when it was held in Portland, OR years ago. The vendor was sweating and white as a ghost. A customer had just tried to remove two magnets, stuck to each side of the palm of his hand, by sliding/pulling them off his hand. They came together tightly and suddenly tearing the edge of his palm, creating pain and blood. Gloves can help reduce risk. You could, to tease your audience or yourself, construct an entire upside down display seemingly overcoming gravity. I'm not that ambitions, however.

That looks great!! Nice idea.
Must be winter in Oregon. :)

Great Idea,
It wouldn't work in my showroom because even with a strip curtain steel dust works its way into the show room.
Unless I wanted to make a giant etch-a-sketch and pull the steel dust around on the other side of the glass. LOL

Those look like the same type of magnets RokForm uses with there cell phone mounts.

edit: I was referring to the round magnet in the third picture.

Many thanks. It is just barely still Winter here. Late Winter. Actually walked outside in my shirt sleeves yesterday. I think that I see some blue sky today. Spring starts only a little later this month. Oh boy!

That's funny, LOL. That steel dust is trouble even for me. I sharpen, Edgepro, and can never touch my eyes no matter how itchy they might be for concern of putting steel bits into them. On the other hand, a giant etch-a-sketch sounds like big fun to me. I might try that. Thank you for the kind words.

If I use the magnets with holes then I can handle them with some leverage using keyring cables or zip ties and this makes removal and carriage easier. The local post office clerk, Dan (a real regular fellow), figured that I was messing with him when my mailer stuck to the interior of the accountable mail locker there! I can only imagine his surprise. I have a larger magnet that I won't handle at all without gloves. My Daughter-In-Law won't enter the same room with it (mechanical engineer and possibly pregnant).
