Hi Ho...

Managed to score a new (surprise!) KaBar BK-05 Magnum Camp early this week, and it arrived today! Yes!!!

So, I've been busy for the last 3 hours going through my collection, taking group photos and updating things since there have been additions to the family since my last big effort at cataloging/etc. Always happens. I'll post a few happy group shots in the photo thread elsewhere... perhaps the FAQ will get another update too.

Here though, I'll show photos comparing the new model to the old ones, with a tracing chart of all three, and specs, and well, lets get on with it...

Wonderful Bladite! thank you for the pics that will tide me over till tomorrow.
the question from the other threads where Ethan said improvements were made to this BK5.how does it feel in the hand compared to the other versions?
this is my first BK5,just wondering how you think it compares?

it feels lighter. more balance... there's a fast feeling to it, that suggests it can SLICE things... think draw cuts, not chopping like a sharpened prybar.

going to try it out on veggies later in the kitchen, cut up a steak... go for a trail walk later this week/end and whittle stuff some stuff.

i'm going to imagine that on light stuff, it's going to be dynamite. it's not for chopping a tree down (though you COULD i bet), but some poles for a shelter? yes. trail blazing? yes. food prep? YES... parting out a deer? oh yes. batoning some kindling? sure.

and more!

that's just what I was hoping to hear I needed a bigger slicer that's capable of more.
only about 15 more hours till the mailman shows!

OK I just got it! very fast in hand! but I must go,taking wife out 12 years today
I'll post pics and thoughts tomorrow.

I like the BK5 a lot! it's like a big hissatsu that's very fast and can do all kinds of work!
it's not a chopper but a worker! a fast worker!
