Anyone with small hands have any feedback with these? I have fairly small hands and am just wondering if a magnum handle will make a blade more uncomfortable.

Last newbie question from me on here.... for the night :D.

do you have a set of standard handles available? if so, do you find you have issues with them being to thin?

I'm not a fan of the magnum scales personally, and my hands are medium sized. I find that I prefer the rectangular flat feeling, that it gives me a better blind indexing of where the edge and tip are at, and feels more controllable in the hand.

But I know lots and lots of people here love them. I'd say that if your going to get them, they would do best on 1/4" and below. at the 5/16" mark, the tang starts to make up for some of the handles girth.

I've chopped with a lot of standard and magnum handled FBMs and I prefer the standard ones. I've got medium sized hands and I can get a tighter, more controlling grip.

I like mags on a thin blade like my Skinny ASH, but theyre too beefy on the battle mistress for me to get a really tight grip on.

My HOGFSH w/ standard grips is just right and I don't have small hands. I unloaded my FBMs with mags, the standard slabs felt better to me.

You shouldn't have a really tight grip on a big knife. The Samurais said that one should hold a sword similar to the way one holds an egg. A tight grip would break the egg. I think Magnums feel better. I guess you could say I have small to medium hands.

I wear an XL glove, and like the feel of mags on my FFBM. I find the standard slabs on an FFBM too small, so I unloaded it. I have to say, the magnum scales on my HHFSH feel the best too me, right next to how nice my .220" GW feels in hand.

I've never used a knife with magnums for hard chopping so keep in mind that activity could make a huge differences.

My hand is small in my mind, I wear size small gloves with medium being a rarity. My hand length is 6.75" from wrist to top of middle finger and my palm width is 4.0" just in front of my thumb straight across.

I've found every magnum handled knife that I've held to be quite comfortable and not too large. I've always been able to close my hand around them comfortably with no strain to make a closed fist.

I have very large hands with very short fingers. Don't ask me, I have no idea how the genetics worked out. The magnum handle on my NMSFNO LE fits my hand very well, better than most of my other Busses.

Depends on the knife.

To be honest, I do my own custom handles. I call them Magma handles. I pour molten rock all over the knife and then grab it. I've only tried it once. Didn't work out too well. But I'm tryin.

i have small hands and personally prefer standards. the only knife i have been able to stand mags on is the skinny ASH. but you should try both if you can.

i remember hearing somebody who knew kenjutsu telling someone who knew european longsword that he was sparring with that he held his sword too tight. the kenjutsu guy was complaining that he couldn't disarm the other guy because of it. i couldn't figure out why that was a problem . . .
