Just wondering if anyone here has one or what are their thought of the 9mm Baby Eagle? Is it on the CA approved list btw?

Of the CZ clones, it's the one I would buy. They are heavy so, that may work against them for concealed carry but, it's a plus for plinking and home defense. They have really good barrels. Fit and finish is good for its pricepoint. I must admit though, that when I made my purchase I went Glock.

the grippable area of the slide is smaller than any full sized pistol I've ever seen. Makes racking the slide a serious pain the butt. Makes Tap-Rack operations hard, and damn near impossible under stress.

My wife's favorite auto is a full-sized Baby Eagle in 9mm. It has been her primary handgun for several years and it's what she shoots in IDPA. She loves the way it handles. Being a little on the heavy side, particularly around the barrel, makes it easier to control under recoil. Hers has also been absolutely reliable over however many thousands of rounds she's put through it.

Saw a family shooting next to us at the range a while ago. They had one and it looked like a nice enough gun especially given the price. The wife and son were stovepiping a lot with it (saw maybe 5 in the space of 30-45 minutes) but that could've been the cheap ammo they were using?

That's the only experience I have with one.

Get a .44 Desert Eagle if you want an intimidating weapon , Nickel Silver or Chrome. And stop by Walmart for suspenders and 2 heavy belts to keep the holster up. They weigh about 6 pounds.
If you can hold one on target for 10 seconds without your arm falling off you should have no problem shooting it. It is great fun but not for defense, unless your house is attacked by armored vehicles.

I posted about the baby because my girlfriend was looking for a gun and I suggested the baby to her. I been reading about the DE and everyone seems to complain about the monster grip of this beast but if I ever do buy one, its just going to be a range toy for me :)

I own a Desert Eagle 44Magnum and find it to be a wonderful pistol. It clearly is not a practical everyday pistol for most people. Mine is exceptionally accurate. For a stock pistol, it is simply amazing at the range. Clustered ragged one hole groups are no problem all day long. With my medium size glove hands, I find gripping the pistol to be not that big a problem. I suspect it is related to technique and experience as I shoot a lot of double stack auto-loaders and have had some excellant training in the past.

The weight will be a real problem with bad technique as will the large grip diameter. This can be an advantage though in taming hot 44Magnum loads.

The polygonal rifled barrels are some of the best around. This helps increase velocity. The lack of the barrel to cylinder gap also increases velocity. For such a fast bullet, it sure is a tame shooter and I repeat - ACCURATE.

I have the mid sized 9mm Baby Eagle and I love it. Its very accurate and very reliable. The only qualm I have is with the plastic grips as aftermarket parts for this gun are fairly rare. One of these days, I'll have some G10 grips custom made.

It is a large gun and concealed carry isn't going to be incredibly easy. But that size makes it extremely easy to control. I'd say its a great range gun, not as great of an on-body carry gun. I've considered replacing it with a G20 which is smaller in every dimension, lighter, and of course uses the nice 10mm round. :)

I give the BE a thumbs up.
