Magnum Storm

Get the proper thing, sore feet due to unsuitable boots when hiking is a real PITA. Go to a proper B&M store, talk to someone that looks like they have a clue. Get measured properly and pay what it takes (at least $200 but they will last decades if looked after)

I went on a hike in the summer with a pal. On the decent (different route than the ascent) it was littered with rocks and it was impossible to avoid them. The soles on my boots were not stiff enough and each time I put my foot down the sole dented and stretched the tendons in my feet. About halfway down I was chewing Ibuprofen like M&M's  The next time I went with him I made sure I had much better boots.

IMHO Scarpa are the boots to have.

the last post has a point. I have a pair of danners that I have had for 6 years and they have worked like a charm. Those boots you are looking at are a great deal, but the problem does lie in the soles. Those particular ones are ment more for an urban setting, whereas something with a nice thich vibrahm soul will protect form rocks etc. Also real hiking boots will give more ankle support with the increase of leather and other materials. I wore a pair of sneakers when I climbed Mt. Katahdin in maine, and I whished that I had a good pair of boots. There is a huge difference when you climb rugged terrain with the proper footwear. Danner, Vasque, asolo, Scarpa are just a few good brands for these sort of boots, but there are many others.

Well I went out, bought the boot, and discovered that the boot had great ankle support and it has a steel shank so I’ll have no problem walking over bumpy terrain. :D

This is one of the boots I tried when I was bying my last pair. In the end I settled for the Haix Airpower P3 over this and other boots. Concerning this one, what turned me off was the lacing system - not quick enough and easy enough to put on. Otherwise it seemed all right, though I've heard some complaints about quality with the far east made Magnums.

Please report later how your boots are performing.
