Hey All,

So I'm about to get my hands on one of my grail knives. A fatty Ash-1 Satin blade finish and with magnum tan canvas Micarta handle. Does anyone have a pic of this configuration? Any feedback from anyone if I should opt for black canvas instead. Obviously this is subjective, but I want this to feel perfect. I'm sort of leaning for the tan canvas because it's slightly more exotic. Any input is welcome. Thanks Hogs!

I have one with black canvas so make sure you get the tan;):D

Hmmm well the inner brat child in me wants to get black now to go against your recommendation, the inner Therapist in me is suspicious of your possible reverse psychology trickery, and the Inner HOG in me wants to get the Tan Canvas then drive to your house and forcefully take your black canvas one too!!

And I thought this was gonna be easy. . .

Tan canvas is my preference.

I had a black mag canvas fatty that I stripped. Great blade. Miss it.

In the words of Ken Lunde's dad, "GET BOTH":D

Its never easy. I like both. Close your eyes and you would never know the difference. Its just that black canvas is traditional old school Busse:)

I have Tan Mags on a anorexic ASH1, nice look and feel. Have have mags on most (a couple are standard) of my fattys and my .22SE... but none in Tan... I am too partial to black and tan G10... ;) Now watch T whip out something in black and tan (lord I do hope it is a knife though...).... :D :D

I have a .22 satin with tan magnum machined handles on order from back in February. Still waiting. Love satin and tan. I think Lunde had the only pictures I could find when I Googled it. Love that look but I can't argue with the "get both" philosophy.

The tan canvas has a way of aging so nicely as you work with it. I have one from the early days and it looks wonderful now after some sweat and oils get into it. One person mistook it for tiger hide micarta. Its nice stuff. Black ages well though, it gets a nice dark patina.

Awesome!! Thanks everyone -- looks I'm sticking with my original plan. Now the wait begins.

I have both tan and black canvas blades. Originally I wanted only tan canvas, and it does take on character quickly. Than I got a proto SOB. I have really taken to its black canvas. I took 80 grit to it and removed the "brick wall" pattern as it was just not my thing and then really fell in love with it. The hand shaped contours revealed a wonderful pattern - more than I got on the tan canvas. So they both please in the same and different ways, and I now realize I love both of them.
If you are placing an order with the Custom Shop for this ASH, you WON'T be disappointed! I recently received my fatty ASH from the Shop in satin and green and black G-10, and it is a stunner. It also took only a few weeks to receive it. Enjoy! You can't go wrong!

Hey Kenneth!

Yea man the Custom Shop got my order a few days ago and I'm basically salivating over this thing. Oh and gents I finally found pictures -- took forever to find one that at least looks relatively like mine. The one in the pic is double cut but mine is satin finish of course ;)

Just to reiterate -- mine has MAGNUM handles hahaha I feel like I'm getting my first bike

Just a FYI the tan canvas can vary in color a bunch :)
from a nice brown to a reddish orange.

Thanks Dave,

I'll probably rub some oil into if it's too orangish . . . Thanks for the heads up though.

^^^ This is why I have been buying tan when possible.
