Magnum tanto ix or xii?

I ended up getting the IX after researching on the net. Upon unboxing and holding it in hand, the first impression that I got was that this one looks much bigger in pictures than it does in real life. In other words, it just looks and feels a bit small in person. Maybe this is from handling too many huge knives, as I tend to like big bowies like the Laredo and Natchez. Balance is very quick and fast, of course. But I kind of feel like maybe I should've got the XII. If you like 'em big, get the XII.

I recently got a huge tanto in W2 steel made by Rob Douglas, a Wally Hayes disciple. It has an 11 1/2 inch blade with a black Japanese style handle wrap and is much wider than the CS tantos. Maybe the CS ones are just too narrow and light for my taste.

Keep in mind...the original Magnum Tanto was the nine incher and had no roman numeral designation. I imagine they tested other blade lengths and found nine to be ideal.

Those are both things im afraid of, the ix being too small and the xii not being manueverable and balanced enough. Grreaper, you might be right about the cs being too narrow, the xii looks a little awkward in pictures being so long and thin. But of course width would add weight and make it even more blade heavy.
If youre looking for a wider blade check out the Warcraft Tantos.

The XII is impressive but not as natural a feel as the IX. I actually find the Oyabun even more so, it would be a better fighter(for me anyway) than the Magnum that you can fell a tree with. The Oyabun and Kobun are my go to tactical knives due to their lighter weight, love the magnum's and I do carry them when I might need a heavy duty cutter. You know hacking off limbs etc.

They have uncoated CPM 3V Master Hunters so maybe they'll do the same with the Tantos.

Nope sadly they only have the tanto in CPM 3V coated in NightFall color which is a shame.

Just wanted to add it's hard to make choice in regards to blade size based on people's reviews for everyone is different in regards to size and strength, etc.

I went for a 12" blade for anything else would feel small to me, i have very long arms, 6'3" tall and can bench 100kgs so in regards to weight that blade will feel light.

Can't wait for mine to arrive.
